based in Munising, Michigan
dreaming of an Up North wedding? Would you like to renew your vows in the beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula? Pictured Rocks Weddings is a wedding service which will help you have your special day in or near Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore!
See below for the area of the Upper Peninsula which I serve.
Winter, late spring, summer, early fall . . . all are a great time for your wedding or renewal of vows! Let me help you create a one of a kind experience . . . as spring green enlivens the area, on a long summer day or during a late summer sunset, with the colors of fall, or in the beauty of winter. No matter the season, you'll have memories to last a lifetime.
Your ceremony can be one which is Christian (but not of any particular denomination), one which expresses life's meaning without including any specific religious faith, or one which is based in Nature (the Four Elements of Earth, Air, Water, Fire). The best ceremony for you reflects who you are as individuals and as a couple. I will talk with you to design a ceremony that you'll treasure all your days.
I have a Masters of Divinity, and served as a pastor for a number of years with congregations in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and lower Michigan. Uncomfortability with institutional religion, though not my faith, led me to make a career change. I'm now retired from owning and operating a vintage Ma & Pa style motel in Munising, Michigan. But I'm still doing Pictured Rocks Weddings.
Besides that, I spend my time enjoying and serving where I live. I particularly enjoy hiking and kayaking in summer and fall, and snowshoeing in winter. I serve on the Board of the Greater Munising Bay Partnership for Commerce and Development, and on the Board of the Munising Memorial Hospital. And I volunteer with Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
I'm a member of the American Council of Wedding Officiates.
Most couples whom I marry choose to have their ceremony at a setting nearby Munising. Within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore at places like Miner's Beach, Munising Falls, Sand Point Beach.... or other places like Au Train Beach, Wagner Falls, or some other setting in the Hiawatha Forest. I will travel farther, though. I've done weddings further out in the National Lakeshore, such as Chapel Beach & Rock, Hurricane River, Au Sable Light Station. And at places such as Grand Marais harbor, Lake Superior near Muskallonge Lake... Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point... Ludington Park in Escanaba, Lake Michigan near Manistique... Presque Isle Park in Marquette. When I travel round trip beyond 100 miles, in addition to my basic fee, there's a mileage charge.
